Depression can be a dangerous clinical condition which does affect both men and women. Women are said to be more at risk then men to be afflicted by it. The way our attitudes, moods, also the way our mind and body perform, depression interferes with these. Depression treatments, depression causes, and depression types vary.

As a result of depression it can destroy your life if you do have it, so the best thing to do would be to learn as much as possible once you believe that this could be the reason you feel not quite right all the time. The starting point would be to find out what are the causes of depression.

Exact depression causes are, to this date, still unknown, but research has provided health experts with solid findings in order to somehow outline the sub-causes of the condition. These sub-causes are referred to as factors that contribute to the development of depression, and they include the following: genetic factors, biochemical factors, environmental factors, and social factors.

Studies show that when there is a history of the illness in the family, there is a bigger risk for family members to have depression in their lifetime as well.

This means that biological vulnerability may be inherited, taking into consideration ones genetics. However, there have been some cases where the depressed person has no family history of depression whatsoever.

When it comes to biochemical factors it includes brain chemistry. It is acknowledged in the medical field that anyone who suffers from critical depressive illnesses have unsuitable regulation of certain brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters.

Erratic sleep patterns are also part of it, which are deemed to be bio-chemically enticed as well. It is a mystery that these biochemical factors are generated by stem or genetics from a disturbance, stress or some other health issue.

As for environmental factors they take into account natural stressors in human life, which include relationship problems, financial problems and others. Depression in some instances have being tied with vital life changes that the person who has depression goes through. These include things such as loss of a loved one, poverty and other things along the same lines.

Finally, it is believed that people with low self-esteem, low confidence, and poor social skills are likely to suffer from depression at one point or another. All of these factors are depression causes. If you think you have depression, check which ones apply to you and have a doctor see you right away.
